Google introduces Ad Manager
Google just purchased DoubleClick who has 60% of the display ad market. Now they've released Ad Manager. Ad Manager is a free tool that will help target ads, manage inventory, and optimize yield. You can sell direct ads and hook them to any network you want.

Windows Live Writer
I'm trying out Windows Live Writer today to edit this blog. It's a new free app from Microsoft. So far I'm impressed. Makes entering new info less of a chore, and it saves the drafts and posts in so they're handy. It's at http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/
It really does simplify the process.

Net Neutrality
You may want to contact your congressman over this bill that was introduced in congress. It is designed to stop ISP's from playing internet traffic cop.
Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass. who is the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's subcommittee on telecommunications and the Internet, introduced a bill to promote the principle, known as "Net neutrality," of treating all Internet traffic equally. He introduced similar legislation in 2006, and he says the bill doesn't regulate the internet, it makes sure that the rules are the same for everyone.

Another Flood
I couldn't believe it. We just had another flood that was high enough to put water in our street. That means that many of the downtown businesses in Findlay, Ohio had water inside them. Rather than try to correct what is becoming a frequent problem, the City if Findlay decided to build a shopping center right smack in the floodplain.
I put an aerial photo of the shopping center property during our August flood on www.findlaywisdom.com. I hope to get some ground shots I took yesterday on the website shortly.

Automatic URLs
I was talking to Jason Isaksen on the phone today, and he made a really great suggestion. His suggestion was, the free Affiliate File Cabinet application that we released a week or so ago should automatically open your web browser and go to the URLs stored in the app.
I thought this was a truly time saving addition, so I just put a new version on www.affiliatefilecabinet.com with the new feature implemented.
If you've already downloaded AFC, and entered your data in it, you can just install the new version over the old. It won't affect your data at all.

Twitter
Well I joined Twitter today. I'm reading quite a few blog entries recommending using social media in our internet marketing efforts. I'm not sure if it's valuable or not at this point. Your welcome to check out my Twitter account. I hope to find out what the fuss is all about. More to come.

Domain Tasting May Sour
Domains are eligible for a refund for 5 days after their purchase. Domain tasting is the practice of placing Google Adsense on the newly registered sites.
Google announced yesterday that it will begin blocking Adsense ads from the domains that are repeatedly refunded and repurchased.
Apparently the practice is endemic. According to Wikipedia, "In April 2006, out of 35 million registrations, only a little more than 2 million were permanent or actually purchased. By February 2007, the CEO of Go Daddy reported that of 55.1 million domain names registered, 51.5 million were canceled and refunded just before the 5 day grace period expired and only 3.6 million domain names were actually kept."
We have to welcome cleaning up some of the spammy practices on the web.
